CLUB MINUTES

EAGLE BOWMEN

Minutes of the Annual General Meeting January 2008

Present: Audrey Battersby, Chris Battersby, Sara Brown, Jan Rhodes, Richard Rhodes, Michelle Wilcock.

Apologies: Ros Elliot, Ken Wilcock.

The minutes of the 2007 meeting were read and agreed as a true record of that meeting.

Matters Arising

The Scout shoot at Lowther as part of their Jamboree was a hard two and a half days with hundreds of Scouts experiencing Archery, many for the first time. Chris and Audrey Battersby, Richard Rhodes and Chris and Dave from Barrow gave the instruction and could have done with more help for such a large event.

The club has been approached to do a "come and try it" event at this years Damson bay at the Lyth valley.

Tim Cooper has relinquished his Chairmanship and those present gave thanks for his help over the past years.

Secretary's Report

Richard reported that everything had gone well with little to do. (As a result of Chris Battersby breaking me in very gently!!).

Treasurers Report

Chris Battersby presented the accounts and explained that the beginners lessons had been reduced to £35 as the £50 paid previously seemed too much. This is only the second year that the field has been paid for by the nightly income despite a poor summer.

The subs were proposed, seconded and carried to remain the same for the forthcoming year at such speed that this poor recorder just couldn't write fast enough.

Forthcoming Events

Damson Day -April 21st - Lyth Valley. Following last years success it was agreed that the club would hold a come and try it session. Chris, Audrey, Richard and Sara agreed to help out.

Apple bay - Acorn Bank. Following last years success it was agreed that the club would hold a come and try it session. Chris, Audrey, Richard and Sara agreed to help out.

Election of Officers

Audrey Battersby proposed and Michelle Wilcock seconded that Sara Brown become Chairman. As she agreed and everyone present was in favour of the idea, Sara was duly appointed.

Richard Rhodes agreed to carry on as Secretary.

Chris Battersby agreed to carry on as Treasurer.

Chris Battersby agreed to carry on as Tournament Officer with Sara Brown becoming apprentice to see how it is done.

Any Other Business

Chris Battersby expressed the desire to purchase another 3D target following the success of the 3D Hare. All agreed with various subjects suggested with final agreement to buy a standing Bear. Chris will organise the purchase.

Other targets were discussed particularly for the Fun Shoot. A turntable target was one of the options.

There being no other business, the meeting closed at 8pm with the promise to return, in one year hence, the exact date, to be decided nearer the time.
